Does normal IP work (e.g. can you ping that address) over that interface? SIO_ROUTING_INTERFACE_QUERY is a standard ioctl, and it has nothing to do with winpcap or raw packet io.

Hello, i'm running windows 2000 sp4 and nmap3.81 with winpcap 3.04beta and i get the following error message when trying to run a scan: C:\Program Files\nmap3.81>nmap -d 173.139.93.1 ***WinIP*** winpcap present, dynamic linked to: WinPcap version 3.1 beta4 (pack et.dll version 3, 1, 0, 24), based on libpcap version 0.8.3

Starting nmap 3.81 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap ) at 2005-02-18 12:40 Central Standard Time SIO_ROUTING_INTERFACE_QUERY(173.139.93.1) failed (10014)

I believe this is the equivalence of "No route to host".

any suggestions?

Make sure you have a default route on your card, and be aware that nmap only works with ethnernet connections (as opposed to dialup, which is usually ppp or slip).

Hi Andreas,

I'm trying to use this on an ethernet connection and there are default
routes on the card, it was installed and configured with the defaults.
are there any special routes i need to configure?

thanks!
