I am not getting the MAC Details

Hi All,
   
   I am running the command  "nmap -O -oX test.xml <IP addresses>" ,it is not giving the MAC address and Mac vendor 
deatils.
  Some times it is providing the MAC details & some times it is not providing.
  Can you please tell me if there is any other option to finding out the MAC details.
