nmap 4.20 crashes on my Vista Home Premium. Running with UAC off, and using an administrative command prompt. c:\tools\windump>nmap -v -d9 -sP 192.168.3.0/24 ***WinIP*** trying to initialize winpcap 3.1 Winpcap present, dynamic linked to: WinPcap version 4.0.1 (packet.dllversion 4. 0.0.901), based on libpcap version 0.9.5 Starting Nmap 4.20 ( http://insecure.org ) at 2007-08-20 17:33 US Mountain Stand ard Time Fetchfile found C:\program files\Nmap/nmap-services The max # of sockets we are using is: 0 --------------- Timing report --------------- hostgroups: min 1, max 100000 rtt-timeouts: init 1000, min 100, max 10000 msx-scan-delay: TCP 1000, UDP 1000 parallelism: min 0, max 0 max-retries: 10, host-timeout: 0 At this point the program hangs and a crash dialog comes up from Vista Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: nmap.exe Application Version: 4.2.0.7 Application Timestamp: 4578da48 Fault Module Name: nmap.exe Fault Module Version: 4.2.0.7 Fault Module Timestamp: 4578da48 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0003cba7 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fab6 Additional Information 2: 74d2856162670f743255abd19ade654c Additional Information 3: d480 Additional Information 4: 3c227786f9449c73346fa47eea048006 WinPCap is installed by Wireshark; WS, snort and windump work fine. This is a 802.11g nic. Suggestions welcome.
