I just downloaded nmap, installed it (vs 4.53). I'm in Windows XP, updated the registry, etc. The issue is, everytime I try to scan, even my own LAN, it starts, then my entire internet connection goes down. The only way to revive internet is to reboot the computer. I can't even ping my router (Linksys wrt54g v 6). What follows are the messages in my event log: The IP Traffic Filter Driver service was successfully sent a start control. The NetGroup Packet Filter Driver service was successfully sent a start control. The configuration of the AdminConnection\TCP protocol in the SQL instance SQLEXPRESS is not valid. Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 00192154DE8B. The following error occurred: The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server. The system detected that network adapter VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated drivers. Checked for drivers on Ethernet Card, none available. I'm getting a lot of SQL Errors, and I don't know if that has to do with my software and hardware setup, or if it has to do with the program. Thanks for the help and if you need more info just ask. Sounds to me like your Linksys is crapping out-- have you updated it to the latest firmware? Are they any devices between that router and your computer? And does your SQL server need to be remotely accessible?
