Announcing the GreeNmap Initiative. This global scripting intiative will develop a series of Nmap scripts that will enable Nmap to serve the global sustainability and energy technology assurance community.
At this time the following GreeNmap scripts are under development:grn-carbon-credits.nse - Estimates the amount of carbon credits required to offset the carbon footprint of the device grn-carbon-footprint.nse - Measures the total carbon footprint of the device grn-compress.nse - Reports the level of file compression on the device (compressed files require less energy to read)
grn-display-bright.nse - Reports the brightness setting of the display grn-display-eff.nse - Reports the energy efficiency of the display grn-display-set.nse - Reports if energy settings of the display grn-display-type.nse - Reports the display typegrn-fool-left-lights-on.nse - Determines if someone left the lights on in the data center
grn-recycle.nse - Reports the amount of recyclable parts in the device grn-pwr-mgmt.nse - Reports the power management settingsgrn-print-duplex.nse - Reports the status of default duplex printing on the device grn-print-font.nse - Reports the efficiency of the default font of the device in terms of the amount of printer ink grn-pwr-cpu-state.nse - Reports the CPU state (SpeedStep™, PowerNow!/ Cool'n'Quiet™, LongHaul™, LongRun™ compatible) grn-pwr-energystar.nse - Reports the E-waste coefficient of the device by comparing current power consumption to that of a comparable device that displays the EnergyStar™ logo grn-pwr-fans.nse - Reports the BIOS settings for energy efficiency of the cooling fans
grn-pwr-gpu.nse - Reports performance/watt of the GPUgrn-pwr-load.nse - Reports the current power load of the network device in kilowatt hour grn-pwr-off.nse - Reports the estimated power savings of the device if it was powered off when not in use grn-pwr-periph.nse - Identifies nonessential peripheral devices and the amount of power being wasted by each.
grn-pwr-pci-express.nse - Reports PCI Express power management settingsgrn-pwr-proc-rate.nse - Reports the power efficiency rating of the device's processor grn-pwr-srce.nse - Reports the ratio of greenness of the power source with a 1-10 scale of fossil fuel to fully green grn-pwr-storage.nse - Reports the power efficiency of all storage devices
grn-pwr-timer.nse - Reports power on and power off timer settings grn-pwr-usb-suspend.nse - Reports USB Suspend settingsgrn-sema.nse - Reports the SEMA (smart energy management address) of the device grn-vm-est.nse - Reports the energy waste of the device by comparing current power usage to predicted virtualization power usage
These GreeNmap Initiative scripts will help Certifiied Green Technology Auditors, The Green Electronics Council, The Green Grid and the Climate Savers Computing Initiative perform their jobs and save the planet.
Please feel free to make suggestions for additional scripts that will help Al Gore sell more carbon credits and assist the global sustainability and energy technology assurance community.
