WARNING: No targets were specified, so 0 hosts scanned

Hi all,

I tried simple namp scan on a url cpied from the browser;
I tried

" nmap http://someweb.com/sth";

and I got something like

WARNING: No targets were specified, so 0 hosts scanned.
Nmap done: 0 IP addresses (0 hosts up) scanned in 4.26 seconds

I feel nmap should be able to scan after getting appropriate hostname from
the supplied url if url is given.
