Hello everyone, what tool would you suggest that can scan a Linux system for all known exploitable programs? I am just looking for a simple host scanner that is open source and doesn't bother checking configuration errors but just tells me which programs need upgrading.
IM(NS)HO you should keep track of the errata's as announced by the maker of your linux distribution. Beyond that it more likely you will have a problem with misconfiguration as commared to the change of a real security bug.
