external detect - wardial

internal detect - ping sweep every node and record the MAC. Might have to get segment access to each switch or forward the arp tables from each switch to central. Run the MACs against the corporate gold standard for standard/approved equipment types. This assumes the corp uses a standard supplier for routers and workstations/servers. ID the outliers. May find modems, wifi rogues, personal laptops, etc.

Hi all,

Had a weired requirement recently.
I was wondering if there is any way to detect an adsl modem/router connected to a phone line.

The scenario being able to trace the adsl modem/router internally from within the corporate network or externally from the ISP network.

The only option I see is to check with the ISP ... any suggestions ?

Thanks and Regards
