Declan,

It's pretty disturbing that the head of the White House Office of 
Cyberspace Security, our so-called cyberspace czar, thinks that last week's 
worm du jour "disabled some root servers" since it's not true, except in 
logician-speak, where "some" equals "one". Maybe his successor will 
understand cyberspace better, or speak less disingenuously.

Our take on last week's SQL Slammer attack is now on-line. It contains some 
information on a few things that, I think, haven't been widely reported, 
such as the role of Microsoft's SQL Data Engine, and a little more detail 
on what did, and didn't, happen at Bank of America and at the root servers.
