                    MAHER HAWASH INDICTED ON CONSPIRACY CHARGES
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Oregon and the 
Portland Division of the FBI announced that Maher Mofeid Hawash was 
indicted today by a federal grand jury sitting in Portland, Oregon.  The 
indictment charges Hawash, like the previously indicted co-defendants, with 
conspiracy to levy war against the United States, conspiracy to provide 
material support and resources to al Qaeda, and conspiracy to contribute 
services to al Qaeda and the Taliban.   In addition, the superseding 
indictment also adds six money laundering counts against defendant October 
Lewis; three money laundering counts against defendant Patrice Ford; a 
charge of conspiring to possess weapons in connection with a crime of 
violence against defendants Battle, Ford, Al Saoub, Muhammed Bilal and 
Ahmed Bilal; and a general forfeiture allegation as to all defendants.
Arraignment of Hawash on the indictment is scheduled for Monday, May 5, at 
9 A.M. before the Honorable Robert E. Jones, in Portland, Oregon.
