having a reliable (and automatable) way of contacting the owner of a PC at a given IP would be a major step forward in combatting email born viruses. As then a MTA could at least tell the sender of the virus that they are infected. This is currently not happening due to viruses spoofing return email addresses, meaning that the infected PC keeps sending the virus for days and days before the owner notices.
