Use process control initialization INIT...you know the stuff in rc.d Write a script to start Snort and call it when your box loads into runlevel 3 which is multiuser networking last time I checked and the default runlevel for a RH box You want to monitor a win2k server from a linux server? That question is a bit off. Snort looks at network traffic, it doesnt care what type of machines you have on your network. If the win2k box or any other box for that matter has an IP that is part of what you set for your HOME_NET variable in snort.conf then traffic to it from $EXTERNAL is being watched. If your wanting to monitor the health of your win2k box for things such as disk space or cpu usage then you will need DEMARC or Big Brother.
can anyone tell me how to get snort to start on bootup for Redhat Linux 7.1? Also how to monitor another server from the snort server? Meaning if I want to monitor a win2k server from a linux snort server. thnaks! _______________________________________________ Snort-users mailing list Snort-users () lists sourceforge net Go to this URL to change user options or unsubscribe: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/snort-users Snort-users list archive: http://www.geocrawler.com/redir-sf.php3?list=snort-users
