Log output to syslog

For those of you who saw my earlier post, I am now running 1.7-3 on RH 7.1
I am getting output to log and alert in /var/log/snort but it is not being
sent to the syslog.
How can I get (which always worked by default until I upgraded) output to
the syslog that can be reported by logcheck?
