MySQL Litter

Running latest CVS of Snort and ACID under RH 7.2 and MySQL 3.23.43...
have previously run similar setup on multiple earlier systems, and I've
not seen or noticed this phenomenon before.

/var/lib/mysql continuously builds up files named "acid-bin.###"
(numbers incrementing from .001). The files are dated across multiple
dates, several days apart, but the sizes are all approximately the same
(1 gigabyte) except the current dated file. They do not seem to be
"temporary" files, as stopping/starting MySQL doesn't get rid of them.
Manually deleting the files doesn't seem to cause residual problems with
accessing the database from ACID.

Where do these files originate? The database name is actually "snort",
so I'm not sure MySQL would know about "acid" except from the queries
ACID itself generates. The one difference in this configuration is that
I'm using the MYSQL-HUGE.CNF (or whichever conf file was appropriate for
this rather beefy box).

Thanks in advance!

Frank
