Help: Snort on WinNT doesn't work

Hi

I have installed Snort on NT 4.0 and now it keeps filling the system event
log with these messages: 

Service:        Service Control Manager
Type:           Error
Category:       None
Event id:       7000
Message:        The Netgroup Packet Filter Service failed to start due to
the following error:
                The system cannot open the file.

Snort is installed and the idscenter.exe configuration tool works (it hangs
occasionally, but it is beta...)

Does anybody know
        - what this "Netgroup Packet Filter Service" is?
        - is it a part of NT or something that should be downloaded?
        - or is this a symptom of a configuration error?
        - what to do now?
        
Any help would be greatly appreciated
