NIDS performance and Snort 2.0?

Who noticed the mentions of Snort 2.0?  The dev tree is still in 1.9 ....!
How I long for a 500% performance improvement!  ;-)

BTW does anyone know what's happened with mmap stuff for libpcap
to improve packet capture performance?
