Error in validating Rules

["protect" <protect () taxcut com>]

Hello:
 
I am new to Snort and Demarc.  While I am trying to validate rules by
going through web console to Configure--> Configure NDIS Rules -->
validate . it gives me following error:
 
Could not find any rulesets for SID 2, will proceed with only snort.conf
file.
 

Couldn't open /usr/local/demarc/tmp/snort.conf for writing: No such file
or directory
 
I have installed Demarc v 1.05 and Snort on Windows 2000 Server.
 
What does this mean? How can I validate rules?
