Snort Performance Issues

Hi all,
                Does anybody have any idea of  implementations of snort in
different platforms  and what is their performance criteria.Ex on
Linux,solaris,FreeBSD and others. By  performance i mean to say about the
packet filter with which snort is installed on all these platforms and which
is the corresponding  performance criteria.Any papers or url 's will also do
good.
