Snort 1.8.7 and dropping promisc mode

has any one noticed that snort 1.8.7 will after a random amount of time
cause the IF to drop out of promisc mode ? 

It is really annoying and there doesn't appear to be anything on the
logs to determine why ( apart from ethX left promisc mode messages) 

before I look further, has anyone else noticed this behaviour ( that
after going back to 1.8.6 has disappeared)
