MySQL problems

OK, I started from scratch. I installed RedHat Linux 7.2 and am following
the snort installation instructions located at
http://www.snort.org/docs/snort-rh7-mysql.pdf . I install MySQL and snort
and test it out as it says to do, but now it says
"Starting Snort: /usr/local/bin/snort: error while loading shared libraries:
libmysqlclient.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory"
Yet it is there in /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql/.
Any Ideas?
