Did you ever have another version of wincap installed? Have you rebooted
your machine since installing winpcap? I am not sure if packet.dll is a dll
that needs to be registered. You might want to try running regsvr32 from the
command line with the path to the dll as the argument (thats a stab in the
dark). I take it you get a message about packet.dll is not found when
snorting snort? Try copying the packet.dll to the same directory as the
snort.exe (not the prefect solution but might get you up and running)
