Error: Unknown config: reference

I updated my rules using Activeworx.

I tried to restart Snort with:

./snort -dev -c /usr/local/snort/snort.conf -i eth1

I got this error:

Initializing rule chains...
Error:  Unknown config:  reference
Fatal Error, Quitting..



I am not sure what it is hanging on, most likely one of the new rules I
just updated.
Any help would be appreciated.
