One way of getting alerts in form of e-mail is to run a SQL query using a
cron job say every 1 hour or so and then e-mail the query. The only thing is
that this want be real time, but then thats okay coz sure ur not sitting and
watching the alerts as they come in ACID.


If u r using normal log file rather than MySql database u can run " swatch "
but this way is a less more attractive way to do it.

No.

ACID can send manual emails, you can't do 'alert based' email w/o checking
the FAQ.
