Snort 1.8.7 on winXP laptop

I would like to use snort/acid in WindowsXP (or 2000) running on a
laptop with a Xircom pcmcia cardbus 10/100 ethernet card. Does anyone
know if this will work? I have installed everything, but running snort
fails. Doing a snort -W shows:

Note the "1" in the interface list, with nothing else showing. Doing a
snort -T shows:

Initializing Network Interface

ERROR: OpenPcap() device  open:

        Error opening adapter

Fatal Error, Quitting..


Someone mentioned to me that I should downgrade winpcap 2.3 to 2.2, I
have tried this to no avail. Any ideas, anyone???
