Unknown Database type specified: a DBtype of '' was specified

i just finished with the set up of snort and acid on a linuxppc machine 
and cannot seam to get acid to see the DB.  all i get is the following 
error
'Unknown Database type specified: a DBtype of '' was specified'
i have specified DBtype = mysql in acid_conf.php and gone through the 
php.ini and everything is set to spec.
any ideas?
