Snort and MySQL - Do they benefit from multiple processors ???

Greetings,

I have a simple question. If I go with a box that has two or four
processors, do I gain the multiprocessor advantage when using mysql
and/or snort?

In other words, do they support multiple processors? I don't want to
waste a dual or quad processor box on the task unless they do.

Thanks,
