Snort Application Logging 2

Goal: Have snort dump all of the rules that are currently associated with 
the snort process running on a system 

Background (2 systems): 
Snort 2.0.0 compile with --enable-debug 
        RedHat 9 (libpcap 0.7.2) 
Snort 2.0.1 no compile opts
        RedHat 8 (libpcap 0.6.2-XXX)

Situation: When starting snort with 
"sudo ./snort -c /usr/local/soft/snort/etc/snort.conf -l /snortlog/logs " 
on either system the initialization prints out to screen at the end snort 
prints out num of rules read. Looking through the snort-user archives 
didn't provide a lot of usable info :*( 

Using strace with -F -f flags displays snort processing the rules eg 
opening rules files, and this is useful but doesn't help the situation 
where I'd like to get a rule dump a day/week/month/year after I started 
snort.
