ACID: Unknown Database type specified: a DBtype of " was specified

I am having problems getting ACID to start up. 
I am using apache2 with the acid directory in /srv/www/htdocs.
I have configured the acid_conf.php file with the correct DBtype
("mysql") but when connecting to url http://localhost/acid/index.html
I get the following message:

Unknown Database type specified: a DBtype of '' was specified

Anybody got an idea how to solve this.
