Of course.

Of course, but if you have to ask the above two questions, you may not
have sufficient familiarity with perl to do this easily.  If you're
really serious about doing it, I would suggest you get a book (or more)
on perl (I recommend the O'Reilly books) and learn more about the
language before you attempt to do this.
