Also, you have to make the /etc/snort dir and move the right files
there.  Check out any of the install guides on snort.org for tips

Configure, make, make install?  Or configure, make install?

If it's the latter, you need to do a "make clean"
Then a "make", and "make install"

Hello,

I would like to install snort-2.3.0RC2 in Redhat 9.0. I downloaded
the
tar.gz file and did the following: configure, make install.

Libcap-1.10-15 is installed in the machine.

The problem:

When I looked for the snort.conf file to understand the defaults, it
is
not seen in /etc dir.

Please advise.
