Understanding protocol mismatch

Folks,

So I¹m trying to understand why I¹m getting a fair amount of protocol
mismatch for ssh.  Here¹s what I have in the snort.conf:

portvar SSH_PORTS 22
preprocessor ssh: server_ports { 22 } \
                  autodetect \
                  max_client_bytes 19600 \
                  max_encrypted_packets 20 \
                  max_server_version_len 100 \
                  enable_respoverflow enable_ssh1crc32 \
                  enable_srvoverflow enable_protomismatch

Why would I be seeing:
May 20 05:40:26 emmettgateway snort[28084]: [128:4:1] (spp_ssh) Protocol
mismatch [Priority: 3] {TCP} my.ip.address:37949 -> 172.16.1.2:22

Just curious..thanks for any assistance.
