libpcap and RHEL 6.1

libpcap version included in RHEL 6.1:

1.0.0 (specifically, libpcap-1.0.0-6.20091201git117cb5.el6.i686)

Error thrown on ./configure for daq 0.5:

Libpcap library version >= 1.0.0 not found.


There are no libpcap headers included, nor any (devel bits) available
via yum/rhn. Why would Red Hat not even make them available? The only
option (it appears) is to compile the source to get the header files.

If I'm missing something, please advise. If not, then my "this is lame"
verdict stands and I'll work around it for my latest guide.
