It might not be possible to do so on Windows, however - it doesn't seem
to be in the lists of legal file name characters for FAT or HPFS in an
old version of the Win32 Programmer's Reference (the references to FAT,
rather than VFAT, and HPFS should tell you how old - I think it dates
back to NT 3.1; the document doesn't specifically talk about characters
in NTFS file names), so perhaps it's not legal on Windows.
