So - if I were to send a patch to change IPv6 printing to be similar

chance?

Hello Gert.

The inconsistency regarding the number of lines is the motivation
behind [1], but that inconsistency on its own did not seem a good reason
to make the change. The inconsistency regarding the packet length
provides an additional reason to make it uniform, and now would be a
good time to make this change in the master branch only, then it would
appear in tcpdump 5.0 and it would be understandable that a major
release changes something in a way that is not backward-compatible. If
you prepare a pull request, please include a useful entry in the change
log.
