No problem here; must be something with you guys. Kernel
problem? Maybe. Regardless, I don't think this (security?) risk is
even vaguely exploitable.

[mike@sheep]:~ $ uname -a
FreeBSD sheep.coetus.net 4.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE
#0: Tue Sep 18 11:57:08 PDT 2001
murray () builder FreeBSD org:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386
[mike@sheep]:~ $ perl -e 'print "\x9E\x9bc"'
ž›c[mike@sheep]:~ $
[mike@sheep]:~ $

From what I see, I think it's a problem with your console. SSHing in
or sitting at my console, I don't get anything.

Best of luck figuring this out,
Mike.
