I have a question: I am running my own server out of my house just for fun. I wanted to set up an ftp server.I am running SUSE 10.2 using vsftpd for my ftp server. I set it up and everything is fine... I can connect to localhost and it works. When I connect from the outside it simply hangs and when I do an nmap it comes back as being filtered (as opposed to open). So... do you guys think this is a filter done by Atl BB and if it is, how can I get around this? I tried using netcat to listen on another port and redirect this to localhost on port 21, but no dice. Any help will be appreciated! Peace, Zach
from a *NIX box on the outside do: tracepath your.ftp.server/21 see what it returns. Quite possibly you've got IPtables on the SuSE box not set to allow incoming FTP -- Tony Placilla, RHCT, GSEC anthony_placilla () suth com GPG-Key-ID: 1024D/C78F8B64 http://pgp.mit.edu Key fingerprint = A8D5 7AFF CE88 4179 C792 D9A9 F197 2A15 C78F 8B64
