Re: ARP scan (?) bug in Nmap 5.59BETA1

Hi David,

I'd just updated to the latest build on svn (r26323) and it seems to be
working fine now. If it happens again, I'll report along with output
from those two commands, but hopefully whatever the error was is fixed!

Thanks!

This is a bug in Nmap 5.59BETA1, svn revision 25719 (updated and
recompiled before posting)

When ping scanning a local network subnet or host (i.e. nmap -sn -sP
192.168.1.0/24) the scan fails with the error:

route_dst_netlink: can't find interface "<interface name>"

Likely an error in the ARP scan, as it only occurs when calling nmap as
root.

The error is confirmed not to exist in 5.21,

This was also posted in the Backtrack bugtracker a few days ago
(http://redmine.backtrack-linux.org:8080/issues/166), but I searched
nmap-dev archives and didn't see any mention of this error.

Thanks for the report. What is the output of these commands:

nmap --iflist
/sbin/route -n
