It's a customized Linux kernel that supports NTFS 4.0, 5.0 and NFS 3.0. Its managed remotely, there is a console connection but it's useless, and supports SSH, telnet, and RSH. File sharing is managed the exact same as the listed Files Systems above.
Strange I was under the impression that like the Caching engines they where infact *BSD based (not sure if it was FreeBSD or OpenBSD). Certainly very interesting to find out. I remember in the older NetCaches you could after firmware upgrade get to the boot levels prior to the caching software/layer, as it occaisionally got confused about which scripts/programs to start. Can't say I've seen this type of behaviour on the 5.x software though. I ask some contacts at NetApp for some more info, Cheers, --Gareth ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This list is provided by the SecurityFocus Security Intelligence Alert (SIA) Service For more information on SecurityFocus' SIA service which automatically alerts you to the latest security vulnerabilities please see: https://alerts.securityfocus.com/
