RE: Snort on Windows : system error 1067

Give us more information as to your configuration. Like, is MySQL in this
configuration?

Have you checked the Event Viewer under the Application tab for any error
messages? Have you tried running snort from the command line? Have you
displayed the run line using 'Snort /SERVICE /SHOW', to make sure it is
correct? If you have MySQL in the mix have you made SURE it's running and
that it's accepting connections? Is your snort.conf correct?

I am trying to install snort on one of the XP machines that I have. This
is purely for testing purpose as of now but I intend to use snort as an
IDS. I have installed snort but when I try to autorun the service with the
parameters, it gives error.
I have checked the parameters and they are correct (config file path and
all). When I say, "net start snort" on the CLI it says..

" The snort service is starting
  The snort service could not be started.
  A system error has occured
  System error 1067 occured.
  The process terminated unexpectedly. "

I am not able to figure out the cause behind it. Could you please help me
in that ?
