I'm scratching my head. Is it really the case that nobody here has been using
WHOIS to look up domain name info? Because that ship sailed years ago. ICANN
mandated RDAP with about a two-year transition period which was over last year.
If you want to get (what remains of) info about domains, you have to use RDAP,
with a little bit of WHOIS left for some country code TLDs.

Having written scripts to do all this, both for domains and for IPs and ASNs, I
can say it was sort of annoying, but writing RDAP scripts is vastly simpler
because there is nothing to parse. You do an https request and decode the JSON
and you're done. That's a line or two in the programming languages people use.
You don't even have to guess which RDAP server to use because IANA has bootstrap
files:
