they're known not to work.

Um, you have me confused with someone else.  I'm the guy who blogged about 
buying coffee with bitcoin a decade ago.  It was more hassle than it was 
worth, but it did work.  At current BTC prices that coffee probably cost 
$50,000 (Canadian, I did it in Vancouver.)

Hey, we agree there.  "Authenticate everyone" is one of those ideas that's 
well known not to work.
